Scenes from Scripture

Count the Stars

A night in the desert, one man under it, and more stars than he can number. Scroll to watch it.

God brought forth Abram, and spake unto him, Look up now to heaven, and count the stars if thou be able to number them; so shall thy seed be. And Abram believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.

Genesis 15:5-6, as St Clement of Rome gives it

Is it any great thing for God to number the stars, by whom “the very hairs of your head are numbered”? The stars are certain lights in the Church comforting our night; all of whom the Apostle saith, “In the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world, holding the Word of life.”
