Who he was
- Aristides, a philosopher, sought to defend the existence and eternity of God.
- He showed that Christians had a fuller understanding of His nature than the Chaldeans, the Greeks, the Egyptians or the Jews; and that they alone lived according to His precepts, ready to lay down their own lives for the sake of Christ. Eusebius tells us that his writings have been preserved bymany (E.H 4,3,2).
What he wrote
- Aristides is strongly influenced by the “Preaching of Peter.”
- He sees in the Christians a new race. He states that the Christians alone have the only true idea of God and they, above all the nations, have found the truth. For they acknowledge God the Creator in the Only- Begotten Son and in the Holy Spirit; and besides Him they worship no other.
