A copy of the New Testament, covered with silver or gold and decorated with icons, is used in liturgical rites. On one side, it is covered with the icon of the Resurrection or Crucifixion, and on the other side the icon of the patron saint of the church or St. Mary. Sometimes on the corners, there are the four Evangelists with their symbols.
