Who he was
- He was the intimate friend of Arius from an early age.
- When Gelasius, bishop of Caesarea was banished in 370 by Valens’ pro-Arian policy, the Arian Euzoius replaced him.
- He was educated with St. Gregory of Nazianzus at Caesarea by Thespius the rhetorician.
- After Acacius, he made every effort to restore the library of Origen and Pamphilus, which had already suffered considerable damage.
- He was expelled when Theodosius became emperor.
What he wrote
- St. Jerome states that many of his treatises were in circulation.
- All have disappeared, and their titles are unknown.
- Arius and Euzoius addressed a letter to the Emperor Constantine at the end of 327; it contains a creed by which Arius and Euzoius intended to prove their orthodoxy.
