What do we mean by the Church, “the teacher and guardian of the truth”?

Holy Tradition and rendition are the same thing. The apostles received the teaching of the Lord as divine truth and preserved it. The Church put before her eyes the commandment of the Apostle Paul to his disciple Timothy: “O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge” (1 Tim. 6:20). Our Lord Jesus confirmed the infallibility of the Church from perversion when He promised His disciples, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). He also promised to send the Holy Spirit, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your

remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). Such promises confirm that the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (Matt. 16:18).
