What does St. Cyril the Great say about our Advocate and Savior?
Q369 · Our Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the World
He says, “God loves His creation, but has a special love for humanity, more than any other creation. He manifested His own special love towards humanity by sending His Son to the world to save humanity.”694 “Christ, who is without sin, Himself carried all the sins of humanity that He may destroy the power of sin.”695 “Because of the greatness of God’s love, Christ came to save the sinful human being.”696 “… if anyone says that he offered himself as the sacrifice for his own sake also, and not rather for us only, (for he who has not known sin would have no need of a sacrifice), let him be anathema.”697 “Christ carried every punishment that fell upon us, and by this, sin lost its power.”698
