What is the testimony of the Holy Bible and holy tradition about the Creator of all?
Q212 · The Wondrous Creator, the Guardian of the World
The Old Testament begins by saying, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen. 1:1).
David the prophet says in the Psalms. “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast” (Ps. 33:8–9).
Jeremiah the prophet says, “He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and has stretched out the heavens at His discretion. When He utters His voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens: and He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, He brings the wind out of his treasuries” (Jer. 10:12–13).
The scholar Tertullian says, “there is one only God, and that He is none other than the Creator of the world, who produced all things out of nothing through His own Word.”434
