How do some western scholars view the contents of the Book of Genesis?

Many western scholars have attempted to show that the contents of the Book of Genesis in no way conflict with the mindset and findings of modern science. Some hold that the sequence of creation found in Genesis matches the understanding of the evolution of the creation with great accuracy.
