What does the phrase “was incarnate and became man” mean?

The Son of God took for Himself a body from the womb of the Virgin, St. Mary and became a fetus without sin. He became a human being without ceasing being God. The evangelist says, “and the Word became flesh” (John 1:14). This God who became man intercedes for all humanity, offering Himself as a sacrifice for their sake. Therefore, the apostle Paul affirms that He became a man in truth, and not just as the illusion of a body, as the Gnostics claimed. He said, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5).
